Transportation: In recent years, the national government has been vigorously promoting the construction of Tibet. Tibet gradually develops its road transportation network. The Qinghai-Tibet, Sichuan-Tibet, Yunnan-Tibet-Tibet, China-Nepal highways and 14 provincial highways are the trunk roads of the network. At present, Tibet airport has opened 14 domestic and international flight routes. Transportation construction in Tibet is being gradually improved.
The urban development and transportation construction of Tibet take off together. Lhasa's prosperity is surprising to outsiders: an acreage 18 times that of 50 years ago, the city resident population 10 times that of 50 years ago. The total length of the city road is 241 kilometers, linking all corners of Lhasa.
There is a substantial growth in per capita income, and average life expectancy is significantly prolonged. Televisions, refrigerator, washing machines, which used to be luxuries 10 years ago, have now become the ordinary furnishings for common families. In August, 2008, the signal of radio and television began to cover all the administrative villages in Tibet. In July, 2009, Lhasa City has become the first to realize the village telephone. Farmers and herdsmen in Tibet now enjoy the rights, freedom, democracy and happiness, which their fathers’ generation could not have imagined. After the revolution, the used-to be serfs of the feudal lords are now the master of the new Tibet. For the first time, they have their own land, livestock and houses. Everyone can enjoy the special preferential poli
cies for free health care. The farmers and herdsmen are very grateful for this.
March 14, 2008, in the Tibetan capital Lhasa, a flock of lawless splittists burnt sections of the implementation of vandalism. This brought terrible damage to the local people's lives and property. The local social order has been severely damaged. This violent riot made Lhasa suffer a direct property loss of 244,687,890 Yuan.
This is the struggle against separatism and safeguarding national unification and ethnic unity of the struggle.
In order to restore the normal social order, the Tibet Autonomous Region party committee and government organizations, public security, and armed police quickly quelled the situation. The prompt action maintained social stability, national legal system, and the security of Tibetan people of all ethnic groups. CPC is the only legal government of Tibet. Chinese Government is ready to calmly deal with the problem. Preserving Tibet's stability and prosperity is a long and arduous task.
