Inter City Transportation
1) By Air
Dunhuang Airport is located 13 km to the east of the urban area of Dunhuang. Passengers can take from here flights to Beijing, Xi’an, Urumqi, and Lanzhou.
2) By Train
The railway station of Dunhuang is located 128 kilometers from the downtown area, in the northeast suburb of Dunhuang. Passengers can take trains from this station to Jiayuguan(6 hours), Lanzhou(14 hours), Urumqi(15 hours), Xi’an(24 hours) and Yinchuan(19 hours).
Inner City Transportation
1) By Bus
Passengers can take buses from the railway station to the city area, there are buses all through the day. The buses run on a high frequency.
Passengers can also take the minibuses, the 2 hours’ journey costs RMB 15.
2) By Taxi
It is easy to hail a taxi in Dunhuang city, the price is not high. Also, visitors can rent a taxi for sightseeing around the city, with the help from the hotel or the local travel agency. This will make the tour more convenient and enjoyable.
