Guangzhou Local Life Style

Located at the southern tip of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou offers fresh and clean air and year-round sunshine, interspersed with tropical rains. The coldest it can get in winter is around 9C (48F), and summers may reach 32C (90F) or a bit higher. Lovely lychee trees and mango trees provide shade and help keep the city cool during the southern summer.
With its wonderful climate, lush greenery and flowers blooming all year long, Guangzhou entices visitors from around the world with its promise of sun, warmth, and world-class shopping. Since the 16th century, Guangzhou (once known in the English-speaking world as 'Canton') has been an important trading center; and as one of the first Chinese cities to be reopened to the West, it now continues its leading role in the economic development of southern China. There are thousands of foreigners in Guangzhou: some come to shop and see the sights; some come in search of the next business gold mine; others are long-term residents working for foreign enterprises or teaching.
Canton Province Sculpture is legendary and includes Guangzhou Ivory Carvings, Jade Sculpture, Wood Sculpture and Olive Sculpture. Cantonese Enamel includes Guangzhou Colorful Pottery. It has a history of over 300 years. Cantonese Embroidery, namely "Yue Embroidery" (meaning literally "Guangdong embroidery") is one of the Four Famous Chinese Embroideries together with Su Embroidery, Xiang Embroidery and Shu Embroidery. Canton Province Bacon is the general designation of cured meat in the Guangzhou and surrounding areas.
Boasting more restaurants per c
apita than any other city in China, world-famous Cantonese cuisine dominates Guangzhou's dining scene, but there are numerous other choices as well, reflecting not just every province in China, but also Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America. With so many choices ready-to-hand, it can be tough to choose what to have for lunch or dinner on any given day!
In the evening, the Pearl River (Zhujiang), rippling with neon reflections, offers an age-old form of relaxation in the form of night cruises on the river: these can vary in price, going all the way up to a luxury cruise with dinner on the water. On land, there are plenty of options for traditional entertainment. Guangzhou is dotted with teahouse that offer wonderful tea ceremonies and the chance to while away a few hours as Chinese people have done for centuries, drinking tea and letting the world slow down.
Guangzhou has an efficient public transportation system. Crossing the city, you can choose from buses, subway or taxis. Most foreigners prefer taxis—fares begin at RMB 8 for the first 2.3 kilometers and RMB 2.6 for each additional kilometer. Those on a tighter budget might opt for the subway system, which will get you close to most of the major shopping and dining areas.
