Guangzhou Overview



Guangzhou, known as Canton or Kwangchow, is a sub-provincial city and the capital of Guangdong Province in the southern part of the China. The first known city built at the site of Guangzhou was Panyu (Fan-Yü) ( 蕃禺, later simplified to 番禺; Poon Yu in Cantonese) founded in 214 BC. Guangzhou is a port on the Pearl River, navigable to the South China Sea, and is located about 120 km northwest of Hong Kong. Besides, Guangzhou is the third largest city in China and southern China's largest city.  
Guangzhou is the main manufacturing hub of the Pearl River Delta, one of mainland China's leading commercial and manufacturing regions. The China Import and Export Fair, also called ''Canton Fair'', were held every year in April and October by Ministry of Trading. The Fair already come into being a symbol of Guangzhou and Chinese business. Consider of the humid, hot sub-tropical climate, there are many tourist attracted by Guangzhou's spots which include: Chen Clan Academy, Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, Museum of the Tomb of the King of Southern Yue in Western Han Dynasty, Shamian Island and so on. Further, the Cantonese cuisine and their morning tea will make you fall in love in this wonderful city.
