The Sun Island, located at the Songhua River bank in Harbin right across from the city center, is famous across northeast China for its year round scenic beauty. The scenic area of Sun Island occupies an area of 38 sq km and consists of 20 scenic spot including the Water Pavilion, Cloud Sky, Youth's Family, Waterside Pavilion, Fountain, Flying waterfall, Sun Mountain and Lotus Lake.
The Water Pavilion and Cloud Sky resemble "the park within the park", inside this park there is a long corridor, square building and Sun Lake. From the platform of the building, you can enjoy the landscapes of the island from different angels.
The Youth's Family is also called "The Happy Village", is filled with entertainment for children to enjoy.
Sun Island is known for its greenery with over 300,000 growing there. In spring and autumn, it is just a field of brilliant greens extending to Sun Mountain, which is known as the beautiful "Forest Bath".In the Lotus Lake, there are many lotus flowers floating peacefully on the lake with their thick leaves and bright blooming flowers that many people come here just to see.
On the sandy beaches along both banks of the Songhua River, many visitors spend hours or even days sunbathing here during the summer. In autumn, you can see layers and layers red maple leaves floating all over the banks and in the water. In winter, the Songhua River is a natural skating rink, where you can ice skate or sled. So no matter which season you choose to visit Sun Island, there are endless things to see and activities to do!
