The Five Pagoda Temple is one of the only remaining parts of the original Ci Deng Temple compound, located in the Old City of Hohhot. It was built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and belongs to part of what was once known as the Temple City, which has over 200 temples in the area. Tibetan Buddhism still has a strong influence on this city, especially amongst the Mongolian people. There are over 1,500 images of Buddha engraved on this temple, drawing both tourists and locals alike. Inside the temple, there is an ancient map of the stars with Mongolian inscriptions. The temple stands 13 meters high and built of bricks. The five pagodas are standing side by side on a base, and the central pagoda has seven floors, while the rest have five.
