Hong Kong Transportations

Inter City Transportation
1)  KCR
KCR is the major railway operator for the New Territories, and between China mainland and Hong Kong.

2)  Air
Hong Kong International Airport is located at Lantau Island's Chek Lap Kok. It is opened in 1998. It is one of the world’s busiest airports in terms of international passenger and cargo transport. It is a leading air passenger gateway and logistics hub in Asia. It replaced the overcrowded Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon in 1998, and has been voted as one of the best airports in the world for 4 consecutive years. The Airport has two main levels, the one above is the departure level (level 7) and the one below is the arrival level (level 5).

Inter City Transportation
1)  The transportation network in Hong Kong is highly developed. Over 90% of daily travelers (11 million) take public transportation vehicles., which is the highest percentage in the world. Octopus Card, a stored value system introduced by the MTR, is now widely accepted on railways, buses and ferries, and well as accepted for cash at other outlets.

2)  MTR (Mass Transit Railway)
The MTR came into being in Hong Kong since 1979, with the daily amount of passengers of about 2.3 million passengers. The MTR is the most popular public transport in Hong Kong.
The MTR is very punctual. The MTR has about 50 stations, near all major entertainment, shopping, eating, commercial and residential areas of Hong Kong. Thus it is very convenient to get to an MTR station in Hong Kong.

3)  Taxi
Taxis in Hong Kong fall into three categories: the Red Taxis mostly travel the urban areas, the Green Taxis within the New Territories, and the Blue Taxis operate on Lantau Island. The red taxis are the dearest and the blue cheapest. The Red Taxis operate in all parts of Hong Kong including the Airport, except for the middle and lower parts of Lantau Island.
