Mount Jiuhua is the holy land with ninety-nine temples. It is because that including the flesh and quite a few famous body Buddhist relics , then Mount Jiuhua is respected in the history of Buddhism. Becoming the holy land of body Buddhist relics should date back to 794 A.C. from the nirvana of a monk. This monk is Jin Dizang ,also named Jin Qiaojue who was the prince of Silla according to history. After nirvana , his flesh became a rounded body .
China has four Buddhist Holy Lands , every famous mountain worships one Bodhisattva : Manjusri shrine in Mount Wutai of Shanxi Province , Odae-san Fuken Bodhisattva shrine in Mount Emei of Sichuan Province , Guanyin Bodhisattva shrine in Mount Putuo of Zhejiang Province and Dizang Bodhisattva shrine in Mount Jiuhua of Anhui Province.
But many people do not know , it is Jin Qiaojue who was the prince of Silla achieved the Mount Jiuhua Buddhism Holy Land . Why did he give up the honour of Silla Prince to be a monk , rather than for fame in Tang dynasty with his capacity? With the total of 99 peaks , Mount Jiuhua has 120 kilometers in total , the area is 334 square kilometers. The main part is composed by Yanshan granite , peaks , basins and streams interweave with each other. The highest peak has the altitude of 1342 meters. With the beautiful mountain scenery and famous historical relics , Mount Jiuhua is famed as ' the first mountain in southeast' . It is one of Four Buddhism Mountains as the Dizang Bodhisattva's shrine.
Now it exists 99 temples in Mount Jiuhua and thousands of Buddha statues . Among the temples , the Diyuan Temple is the largest one . One o'clock in the afternoon everyday , there will be gathered many monks and followers worshipping Dizang Bodhisattva . Such as the Mount Jiuhua Buddhist Holy land , it will attract many visitors. Recently , not only Chinese ,but also there are many Southeast Asian , South Korean visiting Mount Jiuhua.
