Jiuzhaigou Scenic and Historic Area is located in the far northeast of Sichuan Province, and is isolated geographically from other cities of the province. Nowadays, the use of Jiuhuang Airport in Chuanzhusi Town and the construction of a new road link between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou make it much easier and more convenient for visitors to reach Jiuzhaigou.
Jiuhuang Airport is located in Chuanzhusi Town. Flights from this airport takes just 40 minutes to fly to Chengdu.
There are only a few of direct planes or long-distance bus routes from Jiuzhaigou to other cities. As a result, for visitors, Chengdu remains the starting point to Jiuzhaigou. Visitors may arrive in Chengdu by international and domestic flights as well as by train or long-distance bus at first.
To develop the tourism in Jiuzhaigou, the Jiuzhaizhou Ring Way was constructed and put into use in the year 1999. The journey time by road is takes 10 hours, it is not boring thanks to the beautiful natural scenery along the route. Traveling by bus also has the effect to gradually acclimatize to the local high altitudes.
