Daguan (grand view) Park, located at the end of Daguan Road in southwest Kunming city, borders Dianchi Lake and faces the Weste Hills on the other side of Dianchi Lake. A monk named Qianyin built a temple here, in 1682, to preach Buddhism. Eight years later, in 1690, Wang Jiwen, the goveor of Yunnan province was so impressed by the beautiful scenery here that he began the construction of Daguan Park. He put many halls, pavilions, tree, rock gardens and porches in this scenic park. Ever since, Daguan became a famous attraction with its pavilions as the highlight. As the name suggests, the park is filled with beautiful views from the Dianchi Lake to West Hills.
