The Dianchi Lake Scenic Area, located in the southwest of Kunming City, is the sixth largest freshwater lake in China. It can be found at the foot of the West Hill and offers numerous attractions, each one more beautiful than the last.
The lake's scenic area is one of the highlights of Kunming's attractions. This crescent-shaped lake is about 39 kilometers (24 miles) lengthwise and 13 kilometers (8 miles) at its widest. It is surrounded by mountains all around with over twenty rivers flowing into the lake. The lake offers scenic boat rides on its clam peaceful waters. You can view the 198 sq km lake from the Daguan Tower, the Weste Hill Park or the "Yunnan Nationalities' Village".
At night, the lake is especially calming and beautiful with the moon's silvery glow over the lake and the refreshing breeze flowing along its surface.
