The West Hill, located l5 kilometres from Kunming, spreads out across grasslands to the west of Lake Dianchi. West Hill, filled with lush vegetation, blooming flowers and green grassland, is extraordinarily beautiful and thus, dubbed " the most beautiful place in Yunnan". This attraction is known for its many beautiful scenic spots. West Hill is also known for stone sculptures on the cliff, which took 72 years to built. You can get a bird's eye view of Dianchi Lake from the Dragon Gate. In the Spring, the local people will sing folk songs and put on dragon and lion shows. The main attractions here are the Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Sanqingge Pavilions and Longmen Grotto.

Cut from natural precipice at an elevation of 2,500 meters, the Dragon Gate is the highest temple on the West Hill, famous for its spectacular view. This is where you will get a bird's eye view of Kunming city and Dianchi Lake.
