Kunming, known as the "City of Eternal Spring", is one of the most pleasant and relaxed cities in China, as well the capital of Yunnan province. The temperate climate year-round with sunshine, gives Kunming a holiday paradise for tourism, and attracts more than 2 million visitors annually with 800 thousand more coming from abroad.
Kunming has a history of over 2,000 years, which can be dated back to Nanzhao Kingdom in the 8th century as the eastern capital, and even the Marco Polo described it as a "very great and noble" capital city.
In the late 19th century, Kunming became a bloody battlefield, for the rebellions of the Muslim, as well influenced so much by the French, the narrow-gauge rail line to Vietnam is one of the proofs, and Kunming played an important role during the World War II, as the terminus of the major supply line, the famous Burma Road.
