Lanzhou is an important transportation hub for visitors heading to the renowned tourist cities in western China.
Inter-city Transportation
By Air
Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport (ZGC) is located about 70 kilometers from Lanzhou city. Passengers can take daily flights to and from major domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Lhasa, Xi'an, Tianjin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Kunming, Hangzhou, Taiyuan, Jinan, Changsha, Haikou, Wuhan, Wenzhou, Xiamen, Zhuhai, and Shenyang. International and regional flights to Hong Kong, Okinawa and Singapore are also available.
It takes about 1 hour for the airport shuttle bus to arrive at downtown area. The ticket price is CNY30. If by taxi, the cost is about CNY140.

By Train
Lanzhou Railway Station is located in the south downtown. Passengers may take daily trains to major domestic cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Qingdao, Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xian, Xining, Urumqi and Hohhot. There are also Express trains to Xining, Yumen, Zhangye, Pingliang and Golmud.

By Long-distance Bus
The important bus stations in Lanzhou are Lanzhou East Bus Station and Lanzhou West Bus Station. Lanzhou East Bus Station is located at No.170 Pingliang Lu. Lanzhou West Bus Station is located at No.486, Xijin Dong Lu. 750 buses depart daily from Lanzhou. Passengers may take a bus to far-away destinations including Xinjiang, Baotou, Xining, Zhengzhou, Chengdu and Wenzhou. Buses for destinations within Gans
u Province normally depart in the morning and arrive in the afternoon.. Buses No.141, 137, 75 and 6 depart from there and the bus stop is Qiche Dong Zhan (East Bus Station).

Inner-city Transportation
By Bus
Buses in Lanzhou can take passengers to almost every corner in the city. There are buses and mini-buses. The prices range from CNY0.5 to CNY2.5. It will cost passengers CNY0.5 for every five or fewer stops. The further you go the more you pay. Generally, it costs not more than CNY1.5 within the downtown area.

By Taxi
The flag-down fare for taxis in Lanzhou is CNY7 including the first 3 kilometers. CNY1.4 is charged per kilometer thereafter. At night, the surcharge is CNY1.6 per kilometer.

By Water
Because the Yellow River flows through Lanzhou, rafts of both wood and sheepskin are still in use now. To take a primitive sheepskin raft, visitors will get a novel feeling of the Yellow River.
