Lianyungang city, located in northeastern Jiangsu province facing the Yellow Sea to the east, is the starting point of Eurasia Land Bridge and one of China’s eight major seaports. Actually, the name of Lianyungang derives from Lian island (formally Dongxilian Island), the largest island in Jiangsu Province which lies off its coastline. Lianyungang was famous for a dam known as the first dam in China, which built with the purpose to stop the sea, in the length of 6,700 meters; also the historical sites in Lianyungang City are more abundant with a long history.
The city has 14 scenic zone, and 116 scenic spots that constitutes six major features as “sea, ancient, mysterious, secluded, spectacular, spring”, and known as the most wonderful scenery in East Sea. There are so many famous scenic spots that are worth having a tour, such as the Mountain of Flowers and Fruits, the Jinping Mountain, the Hot Spring of East Sea, Su City and so on.
Lianyungang has the largest island, Dongxilian Island, on which there is tourist resort area in Jiangsu Province, and in the resort area there is the biggest natural bathing beach with unique natural scenery. In addition, Lianyungang make full use of the island, the beach and the coastal resources to built many tour areas for leisure, such as Suma Bay Ecological Park, Haizhou Bay Tourism Resort District, Gaogong Island scenic area and so on.
