The Black Dragon Pool, which sit in the Wulao Hills, is a famous sight on the northe suburbs of Kunming. It is known for its "four beauties" which are the Han Temple, the Tang Plum Tree, the Sung Cypress and the Ming Tomb. At the pool, a jet of fountain water can be seen gushing constantly into the pool. Legend says that a long time ago there were ten dragons who harmed many people. Lu Dong-bin, one of the Eight Deities, killed nine of them and buried them under an ancient pagoda. A small black dragon was spared and ordered to watch over the people which is where the name of the pool came from. Right by the Dragon Pool is the famous Yunnan Botanical Garden which is also a great attraction.
