Luoyang is located in the west of Henan province and the south bank of the Yellow River, one of the eight ancient capitals and one of the start points of Silk Road. As well, it's the city of earliest setting capital, exists most dynasties, lasting longest times and “Chinese brand city moving the world”. Luoyang was named for locating at the north bank of ancient Luo River. “Yang” means the sun shine is always on north side of the Luo River for the river flows from west to east. In history, Luoyang has had several names over the centuries, including "Luoyi" (洛邑), "Dongdu" (东都, meaning the Eastern Capital, during the Tang Dynasty), "Xijing" (西京, meaning the West Capital, during the Song Dynasty) and so on. Heluo area, set Luoyang as center, is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization.
The cultural, historical interest and natural sceneries include Longmen Grottes, White Horse Temple, Guanlin Temple, Baiyun Mountain National Forest Park, cockscomb hole and so on.
It's certainly the best seasons of visiting Luoyang is autumn and spring, when is suitable for climbing mountain and visiting chrysanthemum. Like saying “September, 9 is the ascend season”, and enjoy the bloomed peony in warm April. Especially during the “Peony festival” period, from April, 01 to May, 10, filling of bloomed flowers and visitors everywhere in Luoyang.
