The Linggu Temple (Lingu si), located on the easte side of Purple Mountain, can be reached by a shuttle bus from the Sun Yatsen's Mausoleum. But another more enjoyable way is to take one of the paths heading eat from the Mausoleum.
The shuttle bus will take you to the Beamless hall which is unusual because it was built with only five columns and no beams. The Hall was originally used to display Buddhist statues but today there is an exhibition of mannequins reenacting Chinese history throughout the centuries!
North of the Beamless Hall is the Linggu Pagoda, which affords provides great views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. The pagoda is 60 meters tall and was built in the 1930s.
The Linggu Temple is a very active Buddhist Temple that was built in the Ming dynasty but restored only recently. This temple is unique historically since there is a shrine with the skull of the Chinese monk who collected the Buddhist scriptures from Indian.
