Pingyao County is located at the middle of Yellow River, east of Loess Plateau, southwest of Taiyuan Basin. The country northeast is away 616 kilometers from the capital Beijing, north 90 kilometers away Taiyuan, west 543 kilometers away Xi'an, east 758 kilometers away Tianjin port, south 2390 kilometers away Guangzhou coast. The total area is 1260 square kilometers. Pingyao is called ancient pottery in history, and the fief of Emperor Yao as the legend said. Also it's the best preserved prototype in Ming and Qing dynasties style.
Pingyao belongs to the continental monsoon semi-arid climate, with the features that: in spring, temperature rise rapidly, little rainfall and great wind; in summer, hot and rainy; in autumn, the temperature decreased gradually; in winter, cold with many northwest wind and little snow.
