Qingdao is a major city only after the capital city Jinan in Shangdong province, which across the Shandong Peninsula while face the Yellow Sea. By now, Qingdao already became a major seaport, naval base, and industrial center. And it got the reward China's 7th-most livable city in 2008. The humid continental climate make the city is cold even snowy in winter, hot but very hot is rare in summer.
Since remote times, Qingdao is the scrambled place to every military power and it experienced the hard period under German colonial domination and Japan occupation during the end of Qing dynasty. It has to say that Qingdao was the host city for 29th Olympic Sailling competitions along with Beijing. Qingdao International Sailing Center is truly the place worth to see.
