The advantageous location of Wuhan makes it a shipping, rail, and highway hub between northern and southern China and the coastal cities and western China. It is situated in a central location and at the convergence of the Han River and the Yangtze River. Besides, the new bullet train system between Wuhan, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen has been put into use. Transportation between these cities and Central China is made much easier.  So the transportation to and from Wuhan is very convenient.
Inter-city Transportation
By Flight
Wuhan has the biggest airport in central China—the Tianhe International Airport . The airport is located 26km northwest of Wuhan. Passengers may take the airport coach from the Long Distance Bus Station in the city center with an interval of 1 hour. The price of a ticket is CNY15. From this airport, passengers may take flights to many major domestic cities of China including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Nanchang, Fuzhou and Chengdu as well as all important big international cities.

By Train
Wuhan is as one of the four major railway hubs in China. It lies at the crossway of Beijing-Guangzhou railway, Hankou-Danjiangkou railway and some other important railways. Everyday there are over 70 trains departing from Wuhan and more than 120 trains pass here. Passengers may take trains to almost every city inside Hubei province, as well as trains to major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Harbin, Urumqi, Luoyang, Chongqing, Xi'an, Kunming, Chengdu, Liuzhou, Guangzho
u, Nanchang and Hefei.
The three main railway stations in Wuhan are Wuhan Railway Station, Wuchang railway station and Hankou Railway Station. Wuhan Railway Station serves trains running on the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway Line. Hankou railway station serves for trains running on the Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu line. Wuchang railway station is mainly for freight and general transport use.

By Long-distance Bus
The highways in Wuhan are very well developed, radiating in all directions. The main bus stations in Wuhan are listed below:

By Water
Wuhan is one of the largest intermediate ports along the Yangtze River in China. Passenger ships between Wuhan and Shanghai as well as Wuhan and Chongqing are available. However, the ship speed is slow.

Inner-city Transportation
The transportation in Wuhan city is very convenient. Transportation methods include electric buses, regular buses, a light urban railway, regular car taxis and special Chinese motorized tricycle taxis, etc..
By Bus
The bus system in Wuhan city covers almost all corners. The ticket price is CNY2. The Tourist Line NO.402 passes the Yellow Crane Tower and East Lake, visitors may consider to take it.

By Taxi
The flag-down fare for a taxi is CNY3 Yuan including the first kilometer, CNY5 including the first two kilometers and CNY8 including the first three kilometers. The surcharge for every additional kilometer from 3 to 7 kilometers is CNY1.4. Beyond the scope, it is CNY2.1 for every additional kilometer.
