By Flight
Xiamen International Airport is located close to the city, with the distance of only 10 kilometers. It is one of the four leading international airports in China, after Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Flight to more than 40 large and medium domestic cities are being operated. Passengers may also take flights to and from Hong Kong, Macao, Bangkok, Singapore, Manila and Osaka. Buses from the railway station to the airport charges only CNY1.
By Train
The bullet train service started in Xiamen since the year of 2010. Regular train service going north and south is also available, with a much cheaper price. However, due to the circuitous route through mountains, the train speed is quite slow.
Visitors heading to the coastal cities in the south, or to Shenzhen and Hong Kong are suggested to take a bus. The long-distance buses to Shenzhen are usually Chinese bed buses.
By Long-distance Bus
The Fuzhou-Xiamen-Shantou highway is the traffic artery of Fujian Province. Long-distance buses are a good choice for visitors to coastal cities south to Hong Kong or cities within the province. In Xiamen there are three long-distance bus stations. Passengers may take buses to major cities within Fujian Province, including Fuzhou, Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, and Longyan.
