The night life in Zhangjiajie is not as modern as that in the big cities. However, with the population components of Han, Tujia and Miao ethnic groups, the night life there has its own flavor.
The folk singing and dancing performances in Wulingyuan Scenic Area or at the Charming Xiangxi Theatre are a major attraction at night. There are two lists of plays of the folk singing and dancing performance: ‘Charming Xiangxi', and ‘Dream Zhangjiajie'. The actors all come from the local Tujia and Miao families. Their fair-sounding singing and multicolored folk finery are the highlights of the party. Mystery and thrilling luster are added through the performances of Xiangxi Magic and Xiangxi Ganshi (chucking corpse). The 3-hour performance offers a good chance to get deeper into the local culture of Zhangjiajie.
Barbecue and local snacks are sold at roadside stalls at night. Among them, Glutinous Rice Balls in Rice Wine Soup, made of small glutinous rice balls, Chinese dates and sweet rice wine, is very famous and delicious.
