In ancient times Yichang used to be called as Yiling. Yichang is a medium-sized city in Hubei province. The Three Gorges Dam is located in Yiling District, within its administrative area. The two cities, Yichang and Chongqing, serve as the two ends of Yangtze River Cruises.
