The Three Gorges Dam on the Yangtze River is one of the largest construction projects ever undertaken by mankind and has long been a dream for generations of Chinese people. This dam is the largest of its kind in the world and will provide China with the power to generate tremendous energy and to control flood services. In 1992 the Chinese Govement finally gave the green light for this immense project, some seventy years after Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, pioneer of the Chinese democratic revolution, first proposed the idea.
