White King Town, also known as Baidicheng, is located on the northern bank of the Yangtze River. The Town stands at the entrance of Qutang Gorge. Over 2,000 years ago, it was where the ancient Ba Kingdom began. The legend tells that Gongsun Shu began to build White King Town and found a well. There was a white vapor that came out of the well, which he regarded as a flying white dragon. Hence he gave the town its name. In Tang and Song Dynasties, the beautiful palaces in the town attracted many famous poets to visit. In this way, the town got another name, the poetic town.
